Pua Hale – A Personal Oasis
We stayed at Pua Hale for 4 night, and they were delightful. The house provides a home away from home feel, a wonderful place to return to after a day at the beach or a hike. We spent the morning reading on the back porch with the sound of the Japanese garden in the background, walked to the beach for snorkeling, to Kiekos for dinner, and took day trips to the north shore & west side. After we left Pua Hale we stayed at a resort, and it just wasn’t as good as Pua Hale. Carol Ann is wonderful, responsive, and honors the privacy of her guests. This is a gem of a place to stay!
My wife and I spent a wonderful 2 weeks staying at Pua Hale. It is perfect for couples. Our hosts Carole Ann and Norman were extremely gracious and helpful. We intend to return next year. What better recommendation can one provide!
Staying here was the best part of our trip to Hawaii. Carol Ann and her husband were warm, welcoming and very helpful. We stayed in the cutest home! What a delight!
Excellent Choice for us! My wife and I loved this place and having Carol Ann as the resident island expert was really great too. She is awesome as a host and the villa has everything you need. 5 min walk to Poipu Beach was great and the property is very private and quiet. It is a home away from home and our 9 day trip was really nice. We were looking for the non-resort feel and this is just it! All the comforts of home and close to all the action of Poipu. The back lanai is great for breakfast and dinners too. We will go back for sure!
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Pua Hale, which is centrally located on the beautiful island of Kauai and so close to anywhere you want to go. We enjoyed meeting Carol Ann who greeted us with fresh papayas, pomegranates, and limes from her garden and who truly exemplifies the Aloha spirit. This was our first vacation together on Kauai, and we hope to be able to return every October and stay at Pua Hale. Thank you so much, Carol Ann, for the wonderful hospitality: We love beautiful Pua Hale! Mahalo Nui Loa!
We recently returned from our fifth stay at Pua Hale. We love the location so close to Poipu which is our favorite beach on Kauai. Carol Ann is a wonderful, caring hostess and we always feel comfortable and right at home. We love the little geckos and we understand their importance to the islands. I would recommend Pua Hale to anyone visiting the south shore of Kauai.
Unique and comfortable My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Pua Hale. It is a little hidden gem in Poipu. The small house is surrounded by a wooden fence, lush greens, and has a lovely fountain in the private garden. It really makes you feel like you are in your own little paradise. The shower was also great – it has this open design that makes you feel like you are showering outdoors. So freeing! The house was clean and had everything we needed. It’s close to the beach and some great restaurants and other resorts where you can go grab a nice cocktail. I stay in vacation rentals all the time and would highly recommend this!
A restful retreat This was a perfect retreat for us. Previously we have stayed at the Kahuna Plantation, but it had become too touristy and stressful. Pua Hale was a perfect place for our 10 day stay on Kauai. We loved the experience of being in a quiet residential area. The house was simple and the interior space well designed for our needs. The narrow tropical garden along one side of the house made it a very restful place, and the wall along the drive way created wonderful privacy. Carol-Ann, the owner who lives in another house in the back of the property, was generous with fruits and produce from her garden in the back. We hope to return in our next trip to Kauai.
Carol Anne’s Pula Hale is the best. We were delighted from the moment we walked in the door! From the beautiful and private beachside house to the fresh fruit she had placed out for us. We actually complained of a stiff bed and she went out and promptly bought us an amazing memory foam mattress cover!! You cannot go wrong by staying here!!!
I absolutely LOVED Pua Hale. My favorite part other than the general layout and cool breeze with the porch doors open all the time and from the ceiling fans (no a/c needed), were the many geckos! I loved them! I also loved the sound of the water feature in the back. The shower was great too. Carol Ann and Norman are super friendly and the whole place has a wonderful peaceful vibe. Super close to Poipu beach. A really nice, lush residential street. Easy to get anywhere from the place. I would definitely go back. GECKOS! If you love an occasional wildlife sighting inside your place, stay at Pua Hale. Every morning I would wake up and look for them.
Our stay at Carol Ann’s guest cottage was amazing. The location is perfect to access the beach and everything else in the Poipu area. The place is larger than it looks and has plenty of privacy. We stayed for 9 days and look forward to returning again on our next visit to Hawaii. We are grateful we found such a gem away from all the busy resorts yet only a couple blocks away.
Perfect place for a vacation. Carol Ann is available for any questions, house is gorgeous and clean. Great location. Highly recommend staying here
Carol Ann was wonderful! The place was so welcoming, and just what we were expecting. Fresh fruit when we got there, and a friendly hello from Carol Ann. We were looking for a quiet, off the beaten bath retreat and we found it! Wayne had a sore back after so much flying and Carol Ann gave us the name of a masseuse who was fabulous. The neighborhood was quiet and anyone we came in contact with was very friendly. Would definitely stay there again, wish it slept more so we could bring the whole family!
This was a wonderful little house. We could walk to the beach, we could cook our own food, we could walk to a restaurant, I could even walk to my conference. When we couldn’t walk to a place, we had a rental car to drive (there is a parking space for the rental ). The neighborhood was quiet and the house was immaculately clean. Carol Ann was a great host. She helped orient us on the island (convinced us we really needed a car to see it full…and was absolutely correct) and helped us solve a simple logistical problem. It was fun seeing photos of the island’s history as well.
Carol Ann was very friendly and caring to make sure we were fine. The place was as described, very peaceful, private, clean, in a safe neighborhood. The nearby beaches are amazing!! It was a positive experience and I would come back and stay again
Carol Ann thank you for giving us the opportunity to experience life on the island from a private home. It was truly enjoyable. The conversations we shared with you about the island, the Eon e Emalami i Alaka’i Festival at Kanaloahuluhul Meadow, your art work at the Art Kaua’i at Kukui Grove Shopping Center All of this gave us a better understanding of life on the island. Mahalo , Richard and Scott
Carol Ann is a great host. The guest house provides all the necessary amenities of a home and was very comfortable and clean. Also appreciate the hospitality and home grown fresh fruit upon arrival! The list of recommended things to do and restaurants was helpful to make choices for the day and evening. Great proximity to the beach (just a couple blocks away) as well as other beaches within close driving proximity, giving us options to choose the best surfing spot for the day!
